Wadi Degla dominated the last three matches, but were unable to make it count this time, as Wadi Degla was held to draw 0-0 with Etisalat in one of the top matches this season. Today Wadi Degla played one of the strongest matches in the second division against Etisalat; both teams needed the three points.
First half
Both teams started the match in hesitation as the first 15 minutes were very tactical. Soon as the teams started to attack, Wadi Degla’s Ashor El Teky made several attacks between him and both strikers, Wael and Wisdom, but Etisalat, who played in the first division last year, were defending great and protected their goal very well. Another attack by Wisdom, who intersected the ball from Etisalat’s defender and used his speed to move as fast as he could to the goal and then passed the ball to Ashor, but Etisalat’s central defender shot it away from his goal. The referee announced 1 minute injury time, but nothing exciting happened, ending the first half.
Second half
The second half wasn’t so different from the first, but both teams tried attacking to win the three points. Keryaco started for Wadi Degla with a strong shot out of the box, which was very close. The guests used their substitutions to improve their performance with only one serious chance from their midfielder, which was saved by Haitham, Wadi Degla’s goalkeeper, along with several other chances. Coach Hesham made a bold substitution buy sending a third striker, Ahmed Atta, beside Wael and Wisdom, which changed Wadi Degla’s performance for the better. This turned out to be a good move for Wadi Degla with Ahmed Atta trying to shoot and score the only goal by the end of the second half.
All in all it was a great match with supporters wishing to see the team perform like this in the rest of the matches to come. According to this result and other teams results Wadi Degla still remain in first place followed by Etisalat in second place.
