Lierse SK sealed promotion to the first division after beating Waasland 2-0

This is the moment that all Lierse fans were waiting for, to get back to where they belong, which is competing again in the first Division.

The four-time Belgian first division champions, Lierse, won first place in Belgian second division to qualify directly for the first division. They are now 5 points on top with a match remaining.

Wadi Degla started this dream with Lierse two years ago, and with the help of Wadi Degla’s board members and the extreme efforts and belief from Wadi Degla’s chairman, Maged Samy, this dream is now a reality.

What a great ending it was, by sealing this victory and promotion at home to celebrate it together with all the Lierse fans.

In form, Egyptian winger, Mohamed Abdul-Wahed, made a great start to a valuable victory after notching home on 22 minutes. He controlled a pass on the edge of the area, evaded a challenger and sent a trademark left-foot shot into the bottom corner of the net. The former Zamalek and Ismaili man, who has been a revelation since joining Lierse in 2007, took his tally to 11 goals this season. Cameroonian striker, Joseph-Desire Job, made sure of the win with a 25th minute goal.
